Why Elon Musk Launched a Tesla into Space?

Musk’s SpaceX made history this week by launching the most powerful rocket world has seen so far. Falcon Heavy, A 230ft super rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

What’s the big news about a powerful rocket being made and launched? Well, Elon has been working on interplanetary travel for some time now and this launch is yet another successful attempt toward his ambitious goal after successful completion of reusable and self-landing rocket boosters.

The image you see below is no computer gimmick. Its actually a Tesla Roadster floating around in space with a test dummy named ‘Starman’ strapped to the seat.

Of course, normal rocket tests would carry heavy cement blocks in to space, However Elon said on Twitter “I love the thought of a car drifting apparently endlessly through space and perhaps being discovered by an alien race millions of years in the future”

Maybe Elon wanted this event to send a message not to the aliens but to our world that which was once deemed near impossible and so far away is actually closer and possible than we think.

David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars’ played from the car’s stereo and a message on the dashboard says “Don’t Panic”.

Wind shear, sometimes referred to as wind gradient, is a difference in wind speed and/or direction over a relatively short distance in the Earth’s atmosphere.

The industry experts and speculators showed their concern by pointing out that the project is too ambitious and too much ahead of its time. The rocket’s immense power came along with lot of risks. The Falcon heavy can carry a mass greater than a Boeing 737 jet loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.

Like the great salesman Steve Jobs and his iPhone and his Macs, Elon did the same thing with his big rocket and his roadster, a big show-off to show what he has and his company achieved. This could be a great sales pitch for young people to convince that the dream is now becoming the reality. These events will inspire future scientists and innovators which will take humanity to limits which we never imagined. What Steve Jobs did for consumer electronics, Elon did it for space exploration and humanity.
